Prayer of the Week 2/6/19

Holy Father, Creator, Sustainer and Redeemer, we turn to you in full faith that you are turned to us—that your great and glorious immovable love abounds toward us at all times and in all ways.

Thank you that you have promised through the scriptures, as the Psalmist declared, “Surely goodness and mercy will follow us ALL the days of our lives—not just the good days—but all the days of our lives. Not just the days when we succeed in righteousness, but even the days when we fall in unrighteousness. Not just when we need you and call, but even when we need you and fail to believe and fail to call upon you and fail to repent. Even then your hand is near to assist us.

We are comforted to know that there is no place we can go from your presence, no depth nor height that we could reach and be without you; no distance south or north, east or west, above or below the earth or seas that we would not find your love reaching out to us. In all things and all ways, we are never alone, though we and the circumstances of our lives may raise barriers that prevent our understanding how near you are.

Help us this day to welcome you as you are—God of Love, God of Eternity, God of all of our Todays—God of Heaven and God of Earth, God Transcendent in Omnipotence and yet Immanent and even Incarnate in Jesus the Christ, who taught us how to live as your loved and redeemed children and to pray in faith….

Our Father, who art in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for thine is the Kingdom, and the Power, and the Glory, Forever. Amen.
