Prayer of the Week 7/17/2019

Great God, Our Father, to whom all glory is due, from whom all hope emanates, we rejoice as we turn to you in prayer. We magnify your Great Name as we reflect on the gifts you give through your Spirit, in our lives and in our churches—in the programs and the music, the hearing of your Word through scripture and sermon, the work of your Spirit through the prayers and service of your people.

We rejoice that you love us with an everlasting love, beyond the expanses of our imagination and reaching into and beyond the breadth and depth of our need. We rejoice that you have provided for our salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord, and that we can have the assurance of forgiveness, removal of the burden of guilt and cleansing from the sorrows of our soul. We rejoice to follow your guidance, to listen for the still, small voice of your Spirit and trace your will through the pages of scripture and know your love along the steps and stages of our lives.

In all ways and through all times, you have been constant in pure love while we have been inconsistent and fickle in our devotion and commitment. We acknowledge our need to change and to grow and we pray for your guidance at this point in our lives. Lead us, O Lord, to a time of refreshment and renewal, assurance and growth. Teach us to recognize your work in our lives and serve you by blessing others with the gifts you bestow upon us. We pray in the name of the One who makes all things new and who taught us to pray…

Our Father who art in Heaven. Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the Kingdom and the Power and The Glory, forever. Amen.
