Prayer of the Week 1/16/19

Commit your way to the Lord;
Trust in Him and He will act.
Psalm 37:5 (RSV)

Father, our Holy God, Righteous and All-Wise, full of Compassion and Everlasting Love, we come in need of your love this day. We come in need of your guidance. Show us the way that you would have us to go. May there be some clear, winning word of love spoken to those searching for grace this day—a word of wisdom that will answer the question someone has been pondering, a word that will spark some hope to dispel despair and comfort each lonely heart.

Lord, touch those with physical illness and quicken the healing process. Heal the pain of our minds as we wrestle with various concerns. Heal the hurt of disappointment when illness lingers and injuries or surgeries are slow to heal. Help us to wait and rest with you. Help us to remember that you came as a healer; build our confidence that you are our Healer today and that our bodies were created with tremendous capacity for healing. Help us to find the path to renewed health.

May we find the joy and peace that you promise as we trust our lives into your hands. As we face various struggles, help us to ask first and foremost, “Lord, what may I learn as I go through this experience?” Help us to give you the glory through words and actions of faith as we continue along our faith journeys.

Where we have wronged another, Father, forgive and grant us the courage to apologize. Where another has wronged us, help us to forgive, even as Jesus taught us when He gave us His pattern for prayer:

Our Father who art in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who have trespassed against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, for Thine is the Kingdom and the Power and the Glory forever. Amen.
